Hi, I'm Kay
When I was little, I remember my mom taking pictures on a film camera. There were so many different wheels on her camera - I was absolutely fascinated. It was like magic.
Years later, as a student, I went to the States for the first time. I bought a digital camera and took thousands of pictures. It was like documenting my trip rather than a creative process.
And I’m so pleased I did. When I look back on them and can feel vivid memories flooding back, that’s when I realised that I could create the magic too. And I knew that I wanted to be a photographer.
I get a feeling of excitement with each new project. From prepping the shoot to taking the pictures. From the initial inspiration, the practical planning and of course the shoot itself.
No two photoshoots are ever the same. That's one of the exciting things. There's always something different and unique. In part, because of the relationships I build with my clients, but also because there is so much creative scope. Both in how the shots are staged, and how final results are edited. The same picture can be taken and edited in thousands of different ways.
Family Photography
Photographing children is one of the best experiences. It’s always good to have some of their favourite toys close by. I want them to behave as naturally as possible. And to achieve that, they need to find the process fun. To feel comfortable with me and see it like a game.
Sometimes I’ll let them take pictures on one of my cameras. When they press the buttons they can get really excited - feel that they’re part of the process. And they can feel a little of the magic for themselves.
Children grow so quickly. I want my photos to be something the family can look back on, that really captures that time in their lives.
Maternity Photography
For me, maternity photoshoots are all about capturing the unique experience. Something that may only happen one or two times in someone’s life.
Often, it’s about a combination of softness and sensitivity.
My maternity photography sessions are designed to celebrate the beauty of motherhood.
The aim of my shoots is to capture those stunning, intimate moments that truly showcase the miracle this special time in woman.
Wedding and engagement photography
I absolutely love the creative challenge of photographing couples. Seeing the energy between the two of them and bringing this energy to life in the pictures.
I pay a lot of attention to the way they look at each other, how they hold each other’s hands, and how they hug each other—these gestures show how close they are.
